In this video-presentation, we will discuss the importance of the agricultural year and its links to the Irish Samhain, the question on whether similar rituals existed outside of Ireland and the British Isles, and why a rural Irish custom could provide deeper insights into what Samhain meant to pre-Christian Ireland and beyond.

In this video-presentation, the ritualistic practice of Old Norse Seiðr is briefly examined by analyzing both primary and academic literature. The question of European shamanism, and if Seiðr can be considered to be a kind of shamanism, is additionally presented.
